Lake Wylie
It hasn’t been that long ago that the intersection of Hwy 274/49 and SC 557 was the home of the Bethel Lumber Company (Bethel Township) and not much more. Fast forward 50 years and you have Lowes Home Improvement Store, Walmart Super Center, Publix Super Market and dozens of other retail stores and fast food joints in what is quickly becoming one of the most desirable locations to raise a family in the piedmont region of North and South Carolina. Bethel Township marks the western most edge of the community known as Lake Wylie, South Carolina. This 4.7 square mile peninsula of land juts out into the second oldest lake, Lake Wylie, on the Catawba River chain of eleven lakes managed by Duke Energy, the local electric utility.
Lake Wylie Township is a flourishing community offering a variety of choices for living from Townhomes, single family neighborhoods to lake front home sites with fabulous views and endless recreation possibilities. With 13,400 acres of surface area and 325 miles of shoreline Lake Wylie provides a wide variety of fishing opportunities.
