50 years of homebuilding adds up to a lot more than homes.

Since David Weekley Homes began in Houston in 1976, each decade has added another chapter to our story.

Along the way, we’ve celebrated the closing of our 100,000th home, earned more than 1,500 awards recognizing our design, service and workplace culture, and reached a point where more than 90% of our Homeowners say they would recommend us.

Those numbers mean a lot to us, but the people behind them mean even more. They represent generations of Homeowners who trusted us with an important part of their lives, Team Members who brought their talents to work each day and communities that welcomed us in.

A clean caulk line helps keep moisture from finding its way behind your tub or shower.

Reapplying caulk is a manageable home maintenance project, but preparation and timing make a difference.

1. Begin with a completely dry surface. Any moisture left in the joint can affect the seal.

2. Caulk the vertical seams first, then work toward the outside. Apply the fresh caulk directly into the joint, keeping the bead no wider than ¼ inch. If you’re using a caulk gun, cut only enough from the tube’s tip to create the bead size you need.

3. Moisten your finger with a damp sponge, then glide it along the joint to press and smooth the caulk. Wipe away excess promptly. If the line becomes too uneven, remove the wet caulk and try again.

4. Check each finished section for gaps. Add a small amount where needed and smooth it into place.

Caulk begins drying within minutes, so plan to complete the entire job without interruptions. A stopping point may not seal properly, allowing moisture and mildew to enter. Let the new caulk dry overnight before using the tub or shower.

The answer often starts behind the walls.

At David Weekley Homes, thoughtful design goes beyond the floor plan. From Sight Lines and natural light to framing techniques and load distribution, the structure of your home is considered around how you'll actually live in it.

That includes using two-by-six framing spaced 24 inches apart to create more room for insulation, engineering walls and roof framing to align for efficient load transfer, and incorporating architectural details that add visual depth. Even pest control is considered, with built-in exterior cavities designed to be treated before pests enter your home.

It's all part of Designing the Weekley Way, bringing architecture, craftsmanship, and practical innovation together to create a home that feels comfortable, intuitive, and distinctly yours.
