Every now and then Facebook gives a great memory and reminder of your past. Yep, 3 years ago I did a thing. I graduated as a double major with a BA in Business Administration and a BS in Hospitality Tourism.

What this program doesn't show you but reminds me of is:

1. I went back to college after taking an 13 year hiatus. Life just kept happening, one minute I thought I could my loans out of default but than something would happen and funds would need to be redirected. I also gave birth my daughter.

2. After finally settling my loans and my life, I went back to college pregnant with my son. I started classes in Spring '16, took my finals and gave birth the next day then signed up for both Summer sessions.

3. The next school year ('16-17), I planned my wedding that took place in August 2017. I decorated the venue and cooked most of the dishes that were served. I had to be talked out of attending a summer session because the finals were going to be on my wedding day. I was like, "I'm getting married in the afternoon, the exam is at 9 in the morning. I can do it."

4. I spent the last 3 semesters juggling six classes each semester, along with my internship for my hospitality degree, my job (nursing), my two kids, duties as a wife, and added a dog.

5. I graduated in Spring '19, a double major -Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism- and with a GPA to earn Cum Laude.

While most people will look at this post and say, "Oh, she graduated from college." I am reminded of the drive and the determination I had to achieve to what most thought was impossible at that time. Of how I didn't let anyone or thing deter me from reaching my goals.

In the words of :

"The process going to take the time it's going to take and life will move on with or without your active participation. So it's best to get moving."

The road to homeownership can a slow process, with searching for the perfect home in today's market, meeting the requirements for loan approval, and interest rates steadily raising. However, quiting won't speed it up. So, trust the process and know that it's going to take the time it's going to take to get there. I promise the path to homeownership is worth the journey.
