A favor from Waxhaw’s History:

Did you know both of your history page admins work full time jobs, have families and on top of bringing you history posts, also serve on the Board of Directors at The Museum of the Waxhaws. We love our community and are passionate about keeping history alive. It’s truly the reason why we choose to spend free time working on this history page and at the museum.

The Museum of the Waxhaws is a nonprofit 503(c) that has been open to the community since 1992. We are not run by the state or town. We are managed by a Board of the Directors and have no paid staff. We as a board volunteer our time and we have many wonderful volunteers of all ages.

Many nonprofit museums closed in the last three years. Our museum was close to that, but with preservation and determination we have kept the doors open thanks to our supportive community and volunteers.

This Saturday the museum will be hosting the biggest event in years. We are opening our doors with FREE admission for the community to come enjoy Old Waxhaw Christmas. The historic homestead will have history come to life with reenactors, blacksmith and colonial woodworking demonstrations. The indoor exhibits invite you to take a trip through time to discover all that our region’s history has to share with you.

We will have visitors from the North Pole and over 50 local vendors ready to greet you with holiday gifts, food and services!

How can you show your support? Come visit us on Saturday! If you can’t come, share the event! Tell your local family and friends. We want to keep our history alive and events like these allow us to!
