April is Fair Housing Month, and CAAR invites you to join our members and community partners who are committed to championing fair housing.
TOMORROW from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Hillsdale Conference Center, join us for Equity in Motion: A Fair Housing Symposium. This event will explore the barriers that continue to limit housing access for Black and African American communities. Our panelists include:
- Jada Howard – Community Engagement Coordinator, Piedmont Community Land Trust
- Joy Johnson – Chair, Public Housing Association of Residents (PHAR)
- Jordy Yager - Director of Digital Humanities, Jefferson School African American Heritage Center
- S. Lisa Herndon, CAAR Past President, Co-Facilitator
- Roxanne Carter-Johnston, CAAR Board Member, Co-Facilitator
While education and meaningful dialogue are at the heart of the symposium, we will also celebrate the richness of the Black and African American communities through traditional food, refreshing drinks, and line dancing — bringing us together in both learning and joy.
Proceeds will be donated to Building Goodness Foundation.
Scan the QR code and register for the CAAR Non‑Member rate of $15!

Today we visited Monticello with family from out of town. The tour guides do a fantastic job sharing their knowledge and teaching us about the history of Thomas Jefferson’s home. If you haven’t been, or you haven’t been lately, I highly recommend you go!
