Meet Josh Pickard. Josh is one of our lead title examiners. As a Title Examiner, Josh brings years of knowledge, dedication, and attention to detail to every transaction. His journey with Cheboygan Title Agency began in June 2013 as an Independent Contractor, where he quickly became a valuable part of our team. In January 2020, Josh officially joined our staff as a full-time employee and has continued to play an important role in helping ensure smooth and accurate real estate transactions.

With over a decade of experience researching property records and resolving title issues, Josh works behind the scenes to provide the thorough title examinations that help protect buyers, sellers, lenders, and real estate professionals.

Next up in our employee spotlight series — meet Martina Dixon!

Martina joined Cheboygan Title Agency, Inc. in May of 2016 shortly after graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

She began her career in the closing department, where she quickly developed a strong knowledge of the closing process and a passion for helping customers navigate one of the biggest transactions of their lives. After years of dedication and growth within the company, Martina stepped into her current role as Assistant Manager in September of 2024.

Over the years, Martina has become a familiar face to many of our customers, realtors, and lenders, always striving to make each transaction as smooth and stress-free as possible.

We are proud to have her leadership, experience, and commitment as part of our team and look forward to many more years ahead!

We’ve recently seen impersonation emails targeting local real estate professionals using a title company name and transaction software branding to appear legitimate. Unfortunately, phishing scams are becoming more sophisticated every day.

Before clicking links, opening attachments, or responding to requests involving funds or sensitive information:

✔️ Double-check the sender’s email address
✔️ Hover over links before clicking
✔️ Watch for unusual wording, urgency, or last-minute changes
✔️ Verify wiring instructions and requests by calling a trusted phone number

If something doesn’t look right, trust your instincts and reach out directly to the company involved.

Many of you already know her, but for those who do not — meet Jennifer Thornton!

Jennifer is the longest-standing employee at Cheboygan Title Agency, Inc. and Eastern Upper Peninsula Title and has been an essential part of our team since 1998.

She started her career here as a file clerk in Cheboygan and, through years of hard work, dedication, and experience, has worked through every department in the office. Today, Jennifer serves as the General Manager for both Cheboygan Title Agency, Inc. and Eastern Upper Peninsula Title and leads both construction departments.

Jennifer also holds her state license through the Department of Insurance and Financial Services, making her an incredible resource for both our team and our customers. Simply put — she can do it all!

Her knowledge, leadership, and commitment to providing exceptional service have helped shape our office for decades, and we are incredibly grateful to have her as part of our team.

Hello all! Throughout the next few weeks, we are going to re-introduce our team and show off our new headshots.

Meet the owners behind Cheboygan Title Agency, Inc. and EUP Title Agency — Jerry and Tina.

In 1994, Jerry and Tina took over the family business, marking more than 30 years of dedication to serving our community as your local hometown title office. Jerry and Tina further acquired EUP Title Agency in Sault Ste. Marie in January 2000.

Tina spent many years working directly in the office before stepping into more of a behind-the-scenes role in recent years. Jerry continues to work hands-on every day alongside both employees and customers, always willing to answer questions and help guide all parties through even the most challenging title issues.

One of the things Jerry takes the most pride in is helping buyers, sellers, lenders, and realtors navigate the closing process and clear title concerns with confidence and care.

Beyond the office, Jerry is also known as a strong pillar in our communites — continually offering his knowledge, guidance, and support to help Cheboygan/Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding areas grow and prosper.
