Bob has been helping Michigan borrowers navigate the mortgage process since 1993 and founded First Equity in 1995. With decades of experience across a wide range of loan programs, he is known for providing clear answers, honest guidance, and creative solutions tailored to each client’s goals.

Bob specializes in VA loans and also enjoys helping first-time homebuyers and seniors exploring reverse mortgage options. Outside the office, you’ll likely find him fishing, reading, watching football, or spending time with his wife, three children, and six grandchildren.

Ever see "VA funding fee" on a loan estimate and wonder what it means? 🤔

The VA funding fee is a one-time payment made to the Department of Veterans Affairs at closing. It helps keep the VA loan program running for future generations of service members — no taxpayer funding required.

Here's what most people don't know: it can be waived entirely.

You may be exempt if you:
✅ Receive VA disability compensation
✅ Are a surviving spouse of a veteran who died in service or from a service-connected disability
✅ Are rated eligible for disability compensation but receive retirement or active duty pay instead

The fee varies based on your down payment, loan type, and whether it's your first time using the benefit — but for those who qualify for a waiver, it's one less cost at closing.
