I don't really know how to articulate this "professionally" so I'm just going to be flat out honest with you folks: 2024 was my best year to date with inspections. Everything has been great and I love what I do and what I've built.

Unfortunately, lenders don't really care about that stuff, only tax returns 🤣

With the real estate market soaring and rates as high as they are, it's simply not feasible for me to continue to do this as my main source of income right now. I have accepted a job in Florence starting next week, and for the time being, inspections will likely take a back seat to weekends only.

It honestly hurts knowing that I've worked hard to build this business and put a lot of time and effort into honing my craft, all to abandon it for a steady paycheck to appease "the man". I hope one day I can return to being a full-time inspector. I really do.

To all the agents I’ve had the pleasure of working with—thank you for trusting me with your clients and for helping me succeed in this business.

And a big thank you to those clients who have utilized me, left reviews, lent me a kind word, and recommended me to others. You guys are awesome.

Moving forward, Byrd Inspection will require payment prior to report being sent unless otherwise coordinated with realtor (e.g., factor into closing costs)

I can no longer trust clients when I am constantly having to chase down and threaten action in order to be paid.

Thank you to the 90% of individuals who I have never had an issue with. You are decent, functioning adults, which is a scarcity these days.

The rest of you suck.

10 Inspections in last 2 weeks. Market is heating up! Make sure you get a stud inspector to take selfies in your bathroom...oops, I mean to protect yourself through a large investment!

You might not want to skip the inspection phase of a home purchase…just saying 😬🥴

A house can look and feel perfect, but what lurks out of eye sight can end up costing you thousands in repairs.

This is one of the many reasons I recommend a CL-100 (termite inspection) combined with a home inspection. There are trained professionals for this very instance, be sure to utilize them!
