I remember when we bought our condo in Pigeon Forge, our realtor said “my only advice for living or owning in this area, is to never talk bad about Dolly!” She loved the Smoky Mountains and the people who live there.

If you have ever visited that area, you know how much she is loved and how much she invested there. A few of her most notable charities is the Imagination Library. She has gifted over 300 million books since the start of her foundation. Her father never learned to read and she set out to change that for future generations. This was very close to her heart.

When the Gatlinburg wildfires broke out in 2016, she started the “My People Fund” through the Dollywood Foundation to give $1,000 a month to Sevier County families who lost their primary homes.

She has also given millions to pediatric care, including major support for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and funding that led to the renaming of the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital to Dolly Parton’s Children’s Hospital.

She talked the talked and walked the walked. Giving was always at the top of her priorities. She also loved butterflies. They are her signature logo. If you ever make it up to the Smoky’s in April, take a ride through the Smoky Mountains and you will see why!
