Governor Josh Shapiro recently announced a $10 million investment through the new Pennsylvania Mixed-Use Housing Development Pilot Program, funding seven projects expected to create more than 1,400 new homes and apartments across the Commonwealth. The developments will combine housing with commercial, community, and workforce-focused spaces, helping revitalize neighborhoods while expanding housing options.

The overwhelming response to the program—104 applications requesting more than $469 million in funding—highlights the growing demand for affordable housing across Pennsylvania.

🏘️ A key affordable housing vote is coming to Sussex County next week.

County leaders are considering reforms designed to encourage more affordable rental housing development and help address the growing need for workforce and affordable housing in the region.

This would be the second time the county loosened restrictions on the Sussex County Rental Program in hopes of encouraging more participation.

Join Gwen Volk and PennDel AHMA on June 11 for a virtual session.

HOTMA revised how student financial assistance is counted as income for non-Section 8 programs, and Congress has now removed the long-standing Section 8 financial aid income provision, bringing Section 8 in line with the HOTMA standard.
