Hey FB family. We're coming up on Thanksgiving. It's time again for my office's annual donation drive to support the Armed Services YMCA Hampton Roads.

Why should you give (if you have the means)?

This drive directly affects our local military members. Often, the E-1, E-2, and E-3 personnel are too likely to be living at the poverty line. That's right, the newest people who are serving to protect our country are barely able to make ends meet.

What does this donation drive accomplish?

It gives a nice meal for a whole military family on Thanksgiving. Every $25 donation will feed one family in need.

Use the QR code below to give directly to the office. Or you can DM me and I'd be glad to stop by to pick up a check or cash if you prefer to give that way. Then, we'll pool all the money for one big donation to the ASYMCA.

Make sure to do it this week or next. Our drive ends Nov. 7 so we have time to get the food bags together before the holiday.

Chesapeake Emergency Management is closely tracking Hurricane Erin and we hope you are, too. We expect to start seeing periods of rain and wind as early as Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night or Friday morning. If the forecasted track holds true, this will predominantly be a wind event for Chesapeake with areas of coastal flooding. Once the storm has passed, we could see higher-than-normal tides as the winds affect the Chesapeake Bay, at least through the coming weekend.

These storms are truly dynamic so it’s important to stay alert to local forecasts and emergency alerts, and to be prepared for all outcomes.
