Biggest objection to buying a home is rent is cheaper. Short term, sure. Long term, absolutely not. Why? When you buy a home you get a 30 year FIXED mortgage. No Landlord is going to agree to a fixed rate for 30 years. In just 10 years your rent will go up 50% and you will not have earned a penny of equity. But, the homeowner who’s home appreciates 9% (in Hampton Roads) every year has made enough equity to buy a second home. 🤯

Yes, mortgage rates are up. Here's the good news, competition is much lower and closing costs are back on the table. More good news, talking to a mortgage lender to educate yourself does not affect your credit score. Best news, I have a whole team that is ready to help you! Make sure you as a buyer have your new home thoroughly inspected by a reputable inspector or contractor! Also, buy a home warranty! Spending a little extra money can save you in the long run from spending ALOT of extra money!
