I thought that would lead me down a path of shaping children into being adults. At the age of 19, I realized I wanted to lead adults down the path of homeownership and “teach” them the process. This has led to a very rewarding career and the opportunity to come across some of the most interesting and dynamic people! After obtaining my real estate license in June 2003, I furthered my education and
became an Accredited Buyers Representative with the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council and a Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute from the National Association of REALTOR®’s. Then I hit the ground running to get out there and sell some houses! What started out as a simple career choice has turned into a magnificent lifestyle choice and journey that I am thankful for every day! As a military spouse, we are faced with “orders” every few years to move to another duty station. This could be across town or across the country. Luckily for us, we have been able to make across town moves for the duration of my husband’s career. I was born and raised in Chesapeake and have a very strong love for this area. However, I know that not every military family is so fortunate to be able to stay in one place for more than 3 to 4 years. With the housing boom of the early 2000’s and the inevitable “orders” to move, a hardship for my military families surfaced. They were now forced with selling their home or renting it out. This led me to earn the distinction of a Certified Distressed Property Expert in 2012. Many of these homeowners were upside down in their mortgage and needed to sell. This new education gave me the tools and power to guide them through the short sale process while offering them as much protection as possible and keeping their security clearances and future VA loan eligibility safe. My experience as a Professional Property Manager also helped some of these homeowners avoid the dreaded short sale entirely. In 2007, I started handling Property Management and found yet another aspect of real estate that I truly enjoy. In this market, many homeowners are ready to move up or move out and find that their home has not appreciated at the rate at which they would like. The next best thing is to turn that house into a tax shelter* and money making opportunity as an investment property. Many homeowners turned landlords realize that with the right systems in place and the right Manager, this transition is not as hard as it sounds. Everyone’s story is different and unique and I am honored to be considered to become a part of your story.
