Today Candace and I checked out the networking group for the first time. They were hosting their nonprofit showcase, and honestly, we had no idea what to expect walking in.
Candace made it about halfway through before shedding tears, and after hearing some of the stories and missions behind these organizations, I completely understood why. There are so many people in our community quietly doing hard, meaningful work to support vulnerable families and individuals every single day.
We didn’t get much time to network at this one, but we’re planning to go back and continue learning more about the organizations and people involved. One thing we’ve realized lately is that we don’t just want to build a business here, we want to find our place of service in this community too.
Afterward, we sat down to eat and talked about ways we may be able to help in the future, whether that’s volunteering, supporting local initiatives, helping organize donation drives, or simply using our platforms to bring more awareness to causes that matter.
We’ll be sharing the QR code for BizConnect’s nonprofit support page in case anyone is looking for ways to get involved locally, whether that’s volunteering, serving on a board, donating resources, supporting silent auctions, or giving financially to organizations doing meaningful work here in Hampton Roads.
There are some really incredible people out there trying to make a difference.
