🏡 September into October Home Maintenance! 🔧

Central Virginia homeowners know, the heat, humidity, heavy rain, and big storms can be tough on a house! As we head into fall, now is a great time to check a few things before the weather turns.

A few things to add to your list:

🌧️ Check your gutters & downspouts: make sure they’re clear and directing water away from your home.

💧 Look for signs of moisture: check around windows, doors, ceilings, crawl spaces, and basements for leaks or dampness.

🏠 Inspect your roof: summer storms and strong winds can cause damage that isn’t always easy to spot from the ground.

🌬️ Change your HVAC filter: after a long, hot summer, your system will appreciate it!

🪟 Check windows & doors: look at caulking and weatherstripping for areas where moisture or air could get in.

🌱 Check your yard’s drainage: make sure water is flowing away from your foundation and not pooling around the house.

A little attention now can help prevent bigger (and more expensive!) problems later. 😉🔨

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Multigenerational living: A first floor bedroom, full bath, finished basement, or separate living area can make it easier to bring parents or grandparents closer while still maintaining privacy.

🏠 Potential for separate living spaces: Homes with the right layout may offer possibilities for an in law suite, work from home office, or other separate spaces. Of course, zoning and permits always need to be checked.
