Well, we lose good friends. It just happens and it's sad. We tend to remember them more fondly over time and miss them for our lifetimes. Happy heavenly Birthday to my old Bestie Bern Nilges. If there is ever a story about my youth and any type of mischief, the tale likely involved Bern. From baseball, to riding bikes, smoking behind the bushes, listening to Skynyrd and Floyd and being the best buddies kids could be for one another. You'd have been the big 58 today old friend. I talk to Joan alot still and all us kids from NAM and Aquinas and keep in touch with your boy Tyler. We all loved you and miss you. Take care old friend.

I was contacted by an old friend last night whom I've known since I leased apartments about 20 years ago with and whom I'd lost touch and it made me realize what a good person they are and I was a bit disappointed in myself for having lost touch. It's such an incredible blessing when you really focus on it, how God seems to put people in and out of our orbits. I'm very blessed to have this old friend back. When you stop to count your blessings in your mind, don't forget about the folks that are there.

BIG NEWS! Laurie and I are going to be grandparents YET AGAIN. Yep! Both of our daughters are pregnant at the same time and we will add TWO littles within 5 months of each other. Tatum will be a big sister and we grow our family. Very happy for my daughter Sarah Nicole and her fantastic husband Chris Rimar expecting in April.

PEEPS. Today I am so damn proud to announce that my godson/nephew Lt Col. Kenton Manion will be elevated to Battalion Commander of an Army battalion near Atlanta this morning. This is a pinnacle of an Army officer's career. What an honor for him, the nation and our family.
