Here's a look at Wisteria's next project. Closed today on this great little American Four Square style home in Colonial Heights. Calling it "American Dream" as this 1920's storybook classic represents living the dream .

Check out the master bath now - this was the biggest project. It was just too small with a shower the size of a coat closet. So the challenge was how can we expand this space to create a bigger shower? There were 2 hall closets with one directly behind the existing shower. On the opposite wall there were his and hers closets. The master was huge so there was enough room to relocate the closets to the opposite wall. Went with retro black and white to keep the update in style with the age of the house.

Kitchen transformation - new cabinets, sink, backsplash, granite counter top, appliances, lighting and tile floor. There were 5 or 6 layers of flooring that had to come up before tile could go down. We kept the same layout, but knocked out a side pantry to open the space up. Opening up that space and adding the tile really made the space look and feel larger.

Family room before and after's - I loved the double doors from entryway and going into the kitchen. It had nice built-in's, but the paneling and fireplace made it feel dated. Decided to try to work with the paneling and reface the fireplace with stone, paint trim white, new ceiling fan and install new carpet. This helped brighten the room where it had been really dark.

So I've been busy searching for the next potential project. This is some times the hardest part just finding the right one. Here are some more before and after's of Dutch. This was the dining room. We removed the 80's wallpaper which was coated with cooking grease from the kitchen. Getting the walls straight after removing the wallpaper was a chore. Refinished hardwoods dark, new paint and cleaned up light fixture.

So moving inside to the entryway - what I loved about it was real oak floors in every room except family room and kitchen; wide entryway with crown, chair rail and high ceilings. There was actually stick on vinyl tile in the entry way that had been put down over the oak. Getting that flooring up was a major chore I hope to not have to repeat any time soon; but well worth the result. As you can see, these floors we had refinished with a dark stain and the result is gorgeous. Put some light fresh paint on the walls, painted the stair risers white and new light fixture to make this an inviting new entryway.

This is what Dutch looked like when we first got it. It had only replacement windows on the front, no gutters, needed a new roof, but otherwise had good bone structure. The garage was an add-on and appeared "disconnected" from the house. To help tie it in we added hardware to the garage doors. We replaced the shutters with larger shutters in black and repainted the door a cool shade of blue. Larger exterior light fixtures were added for more presence. The brick sidewalk was repaired and the railing repainted. Foundation vents were repainted white. Added some landscaping and wow - what an improvement!

Today we are saying goodbye to Dutch! The keys have been turned over and we are welcoming the new owners home. I could not be more proud of the transformation of Dutch. I will be posting some more before and after photos as we celebrate today.
