This is an issue we encounter frequently in real estate. The younger generation doesn't want many of the sentimental items owned by grandparents and/or parents as they don't share in the emotional attachment, and they don't see the same value in the "old" that many Boomers place on things. The other frustration is that items that were once expensive no longer have value in the market. I've experienced this personally with family art, china, and silver. This is an interesting article about a 74 year old woman leaving her 40 year home in NJ to be closer to family in Brooklyn, NY.
