Designed by the same architects that did the International Spy Museum, 80 M is the first of its kind.

It is the first exposed mass timber two-hour fire-rated structure on the east coast, first mass timber commercial building expansion in DC, and is one of, if not the only, multi-story vertical expansions using mass timber in the US.

The building is safe from fire because the timber framing can sustain two hours of fire without losing its structural integrity.

The project added over 100,000 square feet of interior space to the building across three stories.

Remarkably, the entire framing for the project was completed in 9 weeks by just 9 people! That’s a 43% decrease in install time compared to concrete or steel.
