At Compass, our mission is to help everyone find their place in the world. Working with clients who are searching for a new home, or preparing their current home to look its best for the market, I see and feel just how important not only the physical space, but also the contents within, are to creating a sense of home. We stage properties listed for sale so that others can envision their own lives in the space. Buyers often approach a property with an eye for how a favored family piece might fit in a specific corner, or envision with enjoyment how they might someday furnish a given space. It all contributes to a feeling of comfort and of belonging, the feeling of home.
A Wider Circle - whose mission is to end poverty - is an organization that operates, among many great services, a program that provides gently used home furnishings and other home goods to individuals and families, free of charge. More than 500 local service agencies refer their clients to A Wider Circle for this service, with more than 9,200 people served in 2020. A Wider Circle reports that, "Our clients share that a furnished home contributes to confidence and stability, allows a greater focus on employment and educational goals, and relieves household budgetary pressure."
This holiday season, our real estate team is holding a fundraising drive to support A Wider Circle. Our goal is to provide the funds needed to furnish homes for FOUR families, through a combination of fundraising efforts and a team matching contribution. Details are below; through this initiative, we hope to help others make houses into homes, and we hope you'll consider donating!

MAKING HOUSES INTO HOMES
Join our team’s holiday fundraising drive to help us help our neighbors. The Mary Lynn White Team of Compass is raising funds to furnish homes for families in our communities, through A Wider Circle’s essential support program.
OUR TEAM GOAL:
-By the end of 2021, raise $1,200, the funds needed to furnish homes for TWO families.
-The Mary Lynn White Team of Compass will provide a matching donation, so that FOUR total families are served.
Funds raised will be contributed to A Wider Circle’s Essential Support Program.
ABOUT A WIDER CIRCLE’S ESSENTIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM:
A Wider Circle’s Essential Support Program provides gently used home furnishings — including beds, dressers, dining sets, and couches — to individuals and families, free of charge. For many of those we serve, a bed in which to sleep is the first step on the journey out of poverty.
All of the items we distribute are in “dignity condition,” meaning they are gently-used and free of rips, stains, or broken pieces. As a result, families served through the Essential Support Program leave our Center not only with essential items, but also with a sense of community and hope.
