Wyoming Realtors had two reasons I understand for going against Proposition 1. One is that there was no cap on property value of owners that could claim the deduction. Multi-million dollar home owners can claim the deduction just like anyone else in the state. Teton county, the wealthiest county in the country would benefit the most. The other reason is that it would hurt home owners by reducing emergency services for their communities and funding for schools and other services.

Seniors over 65 that have paid property taxes in Wyoming for the past 25 years already are entitled to a 50% reduction in their property tax.
