WARNING…LONG Post! Yeah I know. Im wordy it’s no secret!!
I joke with my good friends, family and colleagues who may have a different political view point. I only do that with people I respect and know will joke back with a rebuttle that will make me think or at least laugh. I rarely share anything on social media about political matters. I was a journalism major and was sure I’d be the next Katie Couric or Diane Sawyer. I’d travel and write about important things or write the next best seller. Who knows it’s never too late right? Lara Logan was a journalist I used to admire and watch religiously. I remember when she was attacked on assignment and thinking how horrendous and I know it happens everywhere but I imagined it happening in a war torn country far from home and help. I saw this clip this morning and it reminding me of the resilience and courage so many have faced with unimaginable adversity. I Joke about fake news and all the BS people say and believe and I’m NO expert on all things ”political”. But I do know that if you aren’t touched or moved by this woman and others like her no matter your political affiliation- I probably DO disagree with you and won’t be making jokes as you can’t see the courageous humanity that surrounds us on both sides of the aisle. I have faced challenges in my life I thought would break me. Lost my Dad and I literally fell off the rails and lost myself and nearly everything I loved. But nothing I’ve faced or probably will face comes close to what many face. So if you hold grudges, feel that life is too hard, think you can’t possibly get through another tough hurdle…you can. You aren’t alone and pretty photos and posts about perfect lives and delicious dinners aren’t always what is behind the curtains of people lives. Everyone IS facing some battle you are unaware of!
Think of what this woman went through and don’t ALWAYS believe everything you hear and see…there’s always more to a story and more to a person than their worst moment! It’s what they do with that moment and how they respond that will be what you need to remember! ❤️
This clip is not so much about Lara Logan, Tucker Carlson or even the media. It’s about listening to your own gut. And making decisions based on your own values and taking every situation and thinking “what do I really believe”. There’s so much information out there it can be hard for the most politically educated of people to decipher fact from fiction. But somewhere - for the most part - we do all know right from wrong.
This isn’t to sway, persuade or tout my support or lack of for anyone. It’s to make you think before jumping on any bandwagon. To know…there’s more to a story. To my story, your story - all stories. In every story there is pain and failure but in every story, if you look…there triumph & hope. Walking through fire is horrible. But as long as you “stop, drop, roll and stand the F —CK up someone IS waiting for you on the other side with an extinguisher!!! This I know!!!!! I have a lot of people with an extinguisher on hand. Many who really should use it on people who deserve it more. However… now they know to spray it before I start stepping on coals oblivious still to that inferno I sometimes can’t see.❤️. PS.
