Chicago has always understood the value of green.

Parks. Boulevards. Tree-lined streets. Small pockets of landscape tucked between buildings.

The original vision was an “Emerald Necklace”, a connected system of parks and boulevards weaving nature through the city.

Standing here, just off Michigan Avenue, I keep thinking about that idea.

Green space doesn’t have to be enormous to change how a neighborhood feels. It softens the architecture. Creates a pause. Gives us somewhere to breathe.

Maybe the next chapter isn’t simply about preserving Chicago’s green spaces.

Maybe it’s about connecting them again.
