is a former Senior Vice President for The Habitat Company and has been involved as an attorney and/ or principal in over a billion dollars of tax-exempt bond transactions. Director of Development David
Block developed $200 million in complex, mixed-use and mixed-income projects in his former role as a development director for a national non-profit organization. Evergreen Real Estate Group takes the lead on the development of projects from the beginning of the
process with site selection through planning and zoning approvals, building design, financing, leasing
and property management. Evergreen is a responsible, involved partner in creating new and revitalized affordable housing. We believe our role in the development process is to bring the local vision to life, and to help realize the development process with our expertise in the complex financing and rigorous development schedules required to build many types of affordable housing.

🏆 Big news for Encuentro Square!

We’re proud to share that Encuentro Square received a 2026 AIA Chicago Design Excellence Award – Architecture Citation of Merit!

Congratulations to Canopy, the project’s architect and award recipient, our co-development partner LUCHA, and Evergreen team members David Block, Kate Gronstal and Jenny Calero for their leadership in bringing this project to life.

The partnership continues with Encuentro Square Phase 2, currently in predevelopment. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this recognition possible!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, celebrate survivors, support those currently facing breast cancer, and remember those we have lost. 💗

At Evergreen Real Estate Group, this month holds special meaning as we remember members of our Evergreen family impacted by breast cancer, including our colleague Jane Smaga. Her legacy continues to inspire us through the annual Jane Smaga Award and the impact she made on those around her.

Throughout October, we encourage everyone to learn more about the importance of early detection, support those affected, and continue showing what it means to care deeply for one another and the communities we serve.

Often called the “Heartbeat of Housing,” our social services team connects residents with valuable resources, advocates for their needs and helps build stronger, more connected communities.

🏆 Congratulations to Hidden Hills at Oakdale!

We’re proud to share that Hidden Hills at Oakdale has been named the 2026 Bloomington Community Choice Award winner for Best Apartment Complex!

After advancing through the nomination and voting rounds, Hidden Hills at Oakdale came out on top in a community-wide competition that received more than 83,000 votes across all categories.

Last week, our Evergreen family gathered in Chicago for Evergreen 25: The Legacy Celebration, marking an incredible milestone in our company’s history.

Exciting news for affordable housing in western Colorado!

Crawford Commons Apartments has been awarded 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), bringing 60 new affordable townhome-style rental homes to Clifton, Colorado.

Developed in partnership with Housing Resources of Western Colorado, Crawford Commons marks the community’s first 9% LIHTC development in 25 years and Evergreen’s first affordable townhome-style rental community.

We’re proud to help bring much-needed, high-quality affordable housing to Clifton and the Grand Valley.

Evergreen is expanding affordable assisted living in Ohio.

Evergreen Real Estate Group has broken ground on three new Green Oaks communities in Fairborn, Grove City and Walnut Creek, bringing 360 new affordable assisted living apartments to the Dayton and Columbus metro areas.

The developments are among the first purpose-built affordable assisted living communities to be constructed in Ohio and will provide seniors across a range of income levels with greater access to quality housing, care and the opportunity to age with dignity and independence.

With five Green Oaks communities now under construction across the state, Evergreen continues its commitment to expanding affordable senior living options and transforming communities and improving lives.
