Yesterday, a specific memory kept coming back to me, and caused me to reflect on the legacy of Dr. King.

Growing up, Dr. King’s voice was the soundtrack to my earliest school days. I remember sitting in my fourth-grade classroom, hearing the "I Have a Dream" speech and others playing over the PA system. As a kid, I wasn’t always fully tuned in, but those words have a way of sticking to your soul.

Today, I realize that even when I wasn’t "paying attention," I was still absorbing more than I knew. Dr. King famously said, "We are not makers of history. We are made by history." Now, I can see how those moments were "making" me, planting seeds of character and resilience long before I understood their weight.

His legacy wasn’t just a moment in history; it was the relentless pursuit of a world where we’re judged by our character, not our appearance. In 2026, our world looks so different from the one Dr. King left behind, yet his call for justice and empathy remains our North Star.

Today, I’m bringing that subconscious memory to the forefront. Let’s not only remember the dream, but also let’s do the work to keep it alive. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dr. King. 🕊️✨
