There will be NO garbage collection on Monday, October 14th. However, there WILL BE recycling collection. All city-collected garbage will be serviced starting on Tuesday, October 15th. Residents should ensure all black and blue refuse carts are accessible. 111th Street Bridge Over Bishop Ford To Be Closed Starting Monday

A full closure of 111th Street bridge will be required for repairs. Motorists should follow the posted detour starting April 1.

CHICAGO – Weather permitting, the bridge carrying 111th Street over the Bishop Ford Freeway (Interstate 94) in Chicago, will be closed for repairs beginning April 1, IDOT said.

To complete the work, a full closure of 111th Street at the bridge will be required. Motorists should follow the posted detour. The inbound Bishop Ford ramp to westbound 111th Street will also be closed; drivers should use the 103rd Street ramp to access 111th Street. Additionally, the public should also expect shoulder and occasional overnight lane closures on the Bishop Ford at the bridge during that time.

The $ 2.8 million project, which involves repairing the deck and expansion joints, installing a new bridge deck overlay and approaches and painting the bridge, is anticipated to be completed later this fall.

More than 300 vacant City lots will made available for purchase through the ChiBlockBuilder online sales portal starting Monday. Applications will be accepted for 45 to 90 days, depending on the specific property.

Featuring an interactive map, market values and listing sheets, ChiBlockBuilder streamlines the sale of surplus City land to residents, community groups, nonprofit organizations and developers. Sites in the upcoming application round can be used for commercial, industrial or mixed-use development, affordable and market-rate housing, open space, urban agriculture and other uses.

If you submitted an application, you can expect to hear back from the Department of Planning and Development later this spring.
