Cornerstone Community Outreach Addressing Homelessness, Providing Shelter, Accepting People, Finding Home. http://ccolife.org/donate FUNDING IN PART BY:

US Dept.

Brief History-
Cornerstone began as a small group effort in 1989, with a few people working to meet the needs of their neighbors. At that time, women with children were becoming the new faces of homelessness in America. CCO felt drawn to meet this need to serve and shelter women with children. Over the following 20 years our programs have expanded to serve around 500 men, women, and children daily

. As a result, hundreds of singles and families are given an opportunity to reclaim their lives from the devastating effects of poverty and homelessness. Loss of job, lack of resources, health problems, and addictions are some of the causes of homelessness for our residents. But no matter their background or situation, all of our residents have come to Cornerstone seeking help. Our goal is to meet them where they are at and help them begin building a new life, one step at a time. of Housing and Urban Development, CSBG, Chicago Dept. of Family Support Services,
Illinois State Board of Education,
and our wonderful donors.

Healing takes root when people have a place to rest, recover, and begin again.

At The Haven on Lincoln, a new season is beginning. Private rooms, welcoming spaces, and a healing garden are being prepared as part of Cornerstone Community Outreach’s commitment to dignity, care, and a path toward home.

But healing does not happen because of a building alone.

It takes meals, resident supplies, transportation, housing navigation, healthcare and behavioral health connections, and steady daily support from staff who walk alongside each resident.

Cornerstone is raising $92,500 to provide launch support for The Haven’s 37 rooms — $2,500 per room to help prepare this new space for the residents who will soon call it home.

Since the beginning of the year, Cornerstone’s shelter programs have served 332 people, including 187 adults and 145 children.

Please make a gift today and help create a place of dignity, care, and a path toward home.

Fox 32 Chicago Live host Anita Blanton FOX 32 Chicago interviewed Andrew Winter about The Haven on Lincoln and the change it represents for the shelter system in Chicago.

The Haven is more than a new building. It reflects a shift toward shelter that is rooted in dignity, privacy, healing, and connection to services.

For individuals moving out of homelessness, a private room can be more than a place to sleep. It can be a place to stabilize, reconnect, access support, and begin moving toward permanent housing.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share this work and for the many partners who helped make The Haven on Lincoln possible.

We have been deeply touched to experience the vast amount of support we received from our community members at the ribbon cutting for the opening of The Haven on May 7th.

This is just the beginning. Join us as we continue on our journey of expanding dignifying care access for the people of Chicago.

"Today isn’t just about opening a building. It’s about opening a door for people who, too often, feel like every other door in life has closed on them. This works takes people who are willing to invest in the mission. So if what you see here today moves you, I’d invite you to become part of it.

Whether that’s a one-time gift, a monthly commitment, volunteering, or simply helping us tell the story, every bit of support directly helps us serve people who need hope and stability right now. And right now, we have 37 rooms to be made ready!" - Andrew Winter, Executive Director

Sometimes what someone needs most
isn’t everything all at once—

just a place to land.

Through our shelter program, people find safety, rest,
and a way forward—one step at a time.

Hope doesn’t always look loud.
Sometimes it looks like a safe place, a warm meal, and someone saying “you matter.”

That’s the work. Every day.
