This May, Article honors the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) announced "Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together" as this year's theme for AANHPI Heritage Month.

Our team members shared stories of family sacrifices and the multigenerational homes that shaped them. Those experiences became the bridge between where they came from and who they are today, with resilience, perseverance, and cultural pride laying the foundation that continues to guide them.

At Article, we celebrate the diverse AANHPI voices on our team and remain committed to strengthening communities where everyone belongs.

Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Article team rallied together earlier this month to cheer on the Chicago Cubs, and it was an afternoon to remember. The energy and commitment demonstrated on the field reminded us of how we show up for each other as we celebrated a strong start to our year. On and off the field, we’re all-in all season long.

Black History Month honors the legacy and impact of African Americans throughout history. At Article, we're all in on championing the voices and achievements of Black Americans—past, present, and future—whose brilliance shapes our communities and transforms our industry.

For a special edition of "Coffee Conversations: Blueprints of Brilliance," team members came together to honor Black excellence through uplifting personal stories and an honest dialogue.

Hosted by Nicole Beach and Marchya Jackson, the conversation featured Travis Darden, Chenise Irby, and Destinie Boykin. Each panelist shared how unexpected opportunities, mentorship, and resilience shaped their path.

Travis recalled finding his way into the student housing industry while looking for an apartment before his senior year of college. Starting as a Community Assistant, he continued to grow within the industry and led to his current role as the Director of Property Management.

Authenticity was a major part of each individual's journey. Destinie shared how she learned not to shrink herself to make others comfortable. She credited her grandmother for instilling strength and discipline.

When asked what advice they would give younger Black professionals just starting, Chenise reflected on her early career: "Don't be afraid to stand out." She embraces new opportunities and reminds herself that she belongs in every space she enters.

When the team is committed to creating a community that residents are proud to call home, strong leasing momentum and excellent resident experiences come naturally. HERE Champaign is currently 100% occupied and 97% preleased.

The Community Assistants have built authentic connections and deliver impactful tours, while the Maintenance team maintains smooth day-to-day operations and high property standards. Their work sets the tone for the entire resident experience.

Leadership continues to propel HERE Champaign forward. Kedzie Griffin, Leasing & Marketing Manager, brings hands-on experience from her start as a Community Assistant. As Assistant Property Manager, Rachel Burton fosters a supportive environment and encourages community service, including a recent partnership with Eastern Illinois Community Food Bank. Property Manager Patricia Witteman leads with compassion and agility, celebrating her team’s wins and standing with them through challenges. Together, they embody what it means to be all-in.

At HERE Champaign, the team uplifts one another, grows together, and deeply cares for residents. It’s not just a place to live; it’s a place that feels like home. Their strong sense of unity and pride is what allows the community to flourish.

Dr. King's legacy continues to inspire us across generations and borders, reminding us to acknowledge progress while remaining committed to the work ahead.

Last week, Article's home office commemorated Groove Week to celebrate our shared successes.

The week kicked off with What Makes You Shine, where team members shared what makes them shine bright this season, followed by a warm Shine & Sip Cocoa moment. Our team members also gave back to the Chicagoland communities by assembling self-care kits for families supported by Ronald McDonald House and writing holiday cards for those served by Metropolitan Family Services.

To wrap it all up, team members rocked festive holiday knits by day and disco glam by night to toast another spectacular year.

We're keeping the disco spirit alive—bold, bright, and unstoppable—as we step confidently into an even more dazzling future. Here's to a joyful holiday season and keeping the groove going!

This Giving Tuesday, we're shining a light on the compassion and generosity our properties poured into Article's Week of Giving. Our property teams came together to support local organizations in meaningful ways.

They collected canned goods and other non-perishables, donated boxes of clothing, volunteered at food banks, and raised awareness for Alzheimer's. We're incredible proud of how our property teams showed up to make an impactful difference.

In the spirit of gratitude, Article's home office gathered for our annual Friendsgiving Potluck Lunch, a moment to slow down and come together to celebrate our wins this past year. True to Article tradition, team members brought their signature dishes to face off in our annual potluck competition.
