Construction has officially commenced on the Heritage Grove project in Chicago’s historic 3rd Ward.

This development represents a collaborative effort between community stakeholders, public leadership, and mission-aligned lending partners to expand equitable homeownership opportunities on the South Side.

The project will deliver six residential 3-flats designed to support long-term wealth creation through ownership and income-generating opportunities. We appreciate every partner and community member who helped move this vision from planning to reality.

Heritage Grove is officially under construction in Chicago’s historic 3rd Ward.

This development reflects what is possible when community stakeholders, public leadership, lending partners, and mission-driven organizations unite around a shared vision for equitable homeownership and long-term wealth creation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Alderman Pat Dowell for her leadership and support, as well as the City of Chicago Department of Planning & Development under the leadership of Commissioner Ciere Boatright and her entire team. We also thank our lending partners at C3 Impact Fund, including loan officer Aloni Harris and Executive Director Tiffany Taylor, along with the Chicago Community Loan Fund loan officer James Norris, and Executive Director Bob Tucker.

Most importantly, we thank the 3rd Ward community for the overwhelming support and vote of confidence. This project would not be possible without the collaboration, trust, and partnership of so many dedicated stakeholders.

Heritage Grove will deliver six thoughtfully designed residential 3-flats focused on sustainable wealth-building opportunities for families. Each building will include:

Watching your child choose the harder path—and then win—is something special.

My daughter, Kenya The Broker, just took home the grand prize in the graduate category of the 2026 Eisenberg Real Estate Challenge, competing against 27 universities. Her team presented a pitch centered on The 78, and they stood out among an incredibly strong field.

What makes this even more meaningful is the decision behind it. She chose a demanding class that required real commitment, all while balancing a full-time career as a top-producing real estate broker and her Master’s program. There were moments of doubt, especially going up against schools with such strong reputations—but she stayed the course.

I want to acknowledge and thank Roosevelt University for creating an environment that challenges students to think at this level, and Executive Director, Collete Dixon, for the leadership and guidance that helped shape this experience.

To her teammates—there’s something to be said about pushing through uncertainty together and coming out on top. That kind of collaboration matters.

And to my daughter, your discipline, your willingness to stretch yourself, and your ability to execute under pressure continue to show. I am very proud of you.

Last weekend, we had the privilege of attending the 99th Birthday Celebration of Mrs. Ann Warren Edwards at the South Shore Cultural Center. Surrounded by family, friends, and community, the event was a beautiful tribute to a life of strength, grace, and impact.

Moments like these remind us of the power of community, history, and the generations who continue to inspire us.
