To rent property here in Illinois, you will need to adhere to the requirements of each individual property set by the management company and/or landlord. They include CREDIT SCORE MINIMUMS (usually 600+), INCOME (usually 2-3x the rent amount per month), and may include pet restrictions/fees, move-in fees, etc.
+EVEN IF YOU ARE A VOUCHER/SECTION-8 TENANT, you must meet the requirements or receive accommodations/concessions directly from the property owner/management company before being considered for an apartment or home. Please be aware that there is still stigma associated with voucher/section-8 renters. Some property owners. management companies will use tactics like income restrictions, credit score requirements, or even the inspection requirement (not being able to pass the required inspection and make what could be costly repairs/updates to a property allowing you to rent) as a deterrent. Pick your battles. Do you really want to rent from someone like that? it says more about the person you'll be renting from than the management company or property itself. Move on. Something else will come your way.
