After joining the real estate industry while earning her undergraduate degree, Romolo made the leap to broker with the encouragement of her aunt, who had been in the business for 20 years. Since getting her start, she has earned a reputation as a genuine, honest and easy-to-talk-to professional who always has her clients’ best interests in mind. In 2021, despite the pandemic, Romolo ranked among the top 4% of Chicago brokers (according to MLS InfoSparks data) for the first time. “I have always been an intuitive person. In an ongoing effort to maintain a human quality to her work, Romolo hand-picks listings for her buyers instead of relying on automated searches based on loose criteria.

Romolo has also worked with investors regularly since she received my license. She enjoys the math and analytics that goes along with finding a property that will provide my clients with a comfortable return. Romolo herself owns a multi-unit property and understands the math that goes in to finding the perfect investment. Romolo was featured in Chicago Agent Magazine's 2021 edition of Who's Who. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, seeing music, riding her bike, spending as much time in the mountains as a Chicag girl can and taking care of her five pets.

The last time I had a blog was on Xanga, but 20+ years later, we're starting one again.

When I started selling real estate at 23, I had some very strong opinions about what made a home great. I loved architecture, historic details, and homes with personality. I also assumed those things should matter to everyone else.

Then one day, a client said something to me during a showing that completely changed the way I think about homes and the way I work with buyers.

Looking back, it was one of the hardest lessons I had to learn as an agent, but also one of the most important.

Part 1 of my interview with and is here!

We spent a lot of time talking about the artistry behind hand-painted signs and why they still feel so different from something mass produced. There’s a human touch to them that changes the way a business feels, and honestly I love the idea of continuing artistry in the world instead of handing everything over to machines.

Chicago has such a strong visual identity, and so much of that comes from details people may not consciously think about — old signage, typography, painted windows, faded lettering, neon, storefronts that have been there forever. It was really interesting hearing their perspective on preserving that kind of work and continuing to do it by hand.

Part 2 will focus more on the Chicago Sign Museum and the history/preservation side of iconic Chicago signs.
