Independent small brokerages make up 80% of this industry. The big brokerages represent only 20%, yet they are merging to grow, consolidating power, and trying to control the future. Compass is merging, Zillow is pushing to dominate listings, and NAR is tied up in lawsuits.
They only publish their own figures to appear dominant, but the truth is independent small brokerages already drive more transactions and sales volume when you add us together.
The 20% has already caused enough confusion in this market. It is time to stabilize it, bring transparency and accountability back, and refocus on what really matters, serving our clients who rely on us.
That is why the Alliance of Independent Brokerages Network (AIBN), a committee of BWBC Inc., was created. AIBN exists so independent small brokerages can unite, collaborate, and gain visibility while keeping our own names and full independence.
Our voice matters because we are the majority. If we do not speak together now, the 20% will continue to decide the future of this industry and try to shut us out.
