In the weeks leading up to the top-secret Normandy landings in 1944, the code names of all five of the beaches to be landed on were included as answers in crossword puzzles in the English newspaper the Daily Telegraph. Along with several other associated code names, “Overlord”, the cover name of the entire operation, appeared ten days before the invasion! British intelligence determined that it was just a coincidence...
Today is the anniversary of those D Day landings. Gratitude to all who served.

This weekend sees the last blue moon until 2028! (For those of you who have only heard the phrase “Once in a blue moon”, it is the rare second full moon occurring in a single calendar month.) I love checking out the night sky, and it is especially cool to see full moons when they are still near the horizon. Their colors are so vivid! Get out there and see it tonight or tomorrow!

Memorial Day is one of my family’s favorite holidays. It was originally meant to encourage the remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to the country, but the holiday has evolved to include recognition of all of our passed loved ones. We often head out to little cemeteries out in the country and spend the afternoon remembering family members. I hope that you have a wonderful and reflective day..

My boy recently went on his annual Memphis trip, and he said it was fantastic (as usual)! He went down there on the famed City of New Orleans train! If you ever get the chance, head on down there and listen to some great music and eat some wonderful food.
