Last week we experienced the autumnal equinox. The Royal Museums, Greenwich, tell us that that marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall in the northern hemisphere. Fall is my favorite season. I love the weather, the foliage, the sports. There is that tincture of sadness knowing that winter is around the corner, but once it comes, I remember that there are lots of wonderful things about that season, too.
But as we see a couple of months of the most pleasant conditions in the world’s best city, I encourage you to get out there and enjoy it as much as you can. At the risk of sounding like a hippie, an hour or two on a patio or beach or in a park can help to heal what ails you! I am grateful every day for the natural beauty of Chicagoland, and I have tried in recent years to make a point of finding new, beautiful places to check out.
