Washburne Culinary Students will be participating in the first ever 61st Street Farmers Market Chef Throw Down this Saturday! One team will be preparing a menu of herb crusted roasted chicken, sweet potato mash, cranberry chutney, and roasted beet cups stuffed with seared apples, blue cheese, and candied walnuts. The other team will be preparing collard green spring rolls with dipping sauce and apple/cranberry/raisin chicken salad. Your vote will decide the winner, so stop by the chef demo booth to try their dishes! They'll start shopping and cooking at 9am and will be ready to present the dishes at 11am.
Here's some of what you'll find at the market this Saturday:
Brown Sugar Bakery: cobblers, muffins, cupcakes
Faith’s Farm: In addition to her meat, give Kim’s lotion, lip balm, and soaps a try! All natural and safe enough to eat.
Growing Power: Squash (butternut, acorn, spaghetti), tomatoes, greens (collards, kale, turnips), spinach, salad mix, and sprouts
Ingram’s Jam and Bread: Pumpkin bread, Pepper Thyme, Multigrain, Honey Wheat, & Rye plus JAMS!
Lucky Duck Farm: Bok choi, stir-fry mix, pea shoots, daikon radishes, carrots, winter melons, shish*to and Thai chili peppers. Also, chicken eggs and duck eggs.
Mick Klug: Apples (Honey Crisp and Goldens), Red Raspberries, apple cider
Mint Creek: Reserve your Thanksgiving turkey for pick-up at the 61st Street Indoor Market on November 17th!
Mother Butter’s: Caramel Pumpkin Spice Popcorn
Penny Pastry: Empire Apple Crisp and their usual delicious line-up of croissants and coffee cake
