Since 2008, CIC has helped multifamily building owners reduce operating costs through energy-efficient upgrades.

Recently, a 6-unit, three-story brick walk-up in Chatham received a $10,000 Energy & Climate Resiliency grant to fund high-efficiency toilets and faucets, new gutters and downspouts, interior drain tiles, and flood control measures—helping protect the property, lower long-term costs, and preserve affordable housing.

These upgrades help preserve affordable housing, reduce long-term costs, and build resilience in our communities.

Our very own Managing Director of Lending Moore contributed to this recent article that examines how South Shore is changing ahead of the Obama Center’s upcoming opening. He pointed out that CIC is seeing increased interest from investors in the neighborhood.

As prices rise, the urgency to preserve the affordable housing that already exists in South Shore only grows. That work is core to CIC’s mission, and it’s why we invest in multi-unit affordable rental housing in South Shore and across Chicagoland.
