Crain's Chicago Business is reporting on two of last week's top Chicago home sales: a $6 million Cedar Street mansion that sold privately in about two weeks, and a $5.5 million Water Tower condo that closed at full asking price in three weeks. The Crown family condo. The kind of address that does not need an explanation.

What these two sales have in common is speed. Not lucky speed — intentional speed. Turnkey product, right pricing, right positioning. Buyers — many coming from out of town — are recognizing what those of us in this market have known all along: what Chicago offers at this price point cannot be matched in New York, LA, or Miami.
