Horizon Realty Group is currently trying to secure zoning approval for a Class A multifamily property in Evanston, Illinois which would create 10 on-site affordable apartments in a very coveted area of Evanston. Despite the overwhelming benefit that the project will bring to the community, on top of the much-needed affordable housing units, the project has been met with much resistance from local “NIMBY’s” since the efforts started about 4 years ago.
Recently, the media has begun to shed light on how overly burdensome zoning restrictions (and the NIMBY movement) are unwittingly contributing to an affordable housing crisis in our country (see link below).
