VOTE YES ON 7

What Will This Ballot Question Do?
Legalize Starter Homes is a citizen-led ballot question that would make it legal to build new single-family homes on lots of 5,000 square feet (about the size of an NBA basketball court) wherever
there is public sewer and water service. Allowing homes to be built on smaller lots will facilitate smaller, lower-cost homes instead of giant McMansions built to justify the cost of buying so much land, generating an estimated 2,200 to 5,700 new homes per year.

Who Will It Benefit?
Anyone who needs a small. low-maintenance, relatively low-cost home, especially young families, seniors looking to downsize, and first-time homebuyers of all ages. Every city and town in Massachusetts will be able to set reasonable regulations locally so that it works for their community.

Why It Matters: Tackling the Housing Crisis
A third of Massachusetts residents are considering leaving the state, citing cost of living as their greatest concer. Leglize Starter Homes is the only measure on the state's 2026 ballot that addresses the housing crisis.

Click on the link below to learn more about this ballot initiative that would bolster housing production in Massachusetts.
