Much like the foals that arrive every spring on Assateague Island something new is coming to Chincoteague Island's Russell Everett Estate. Now known as the Chincoteague Chateau the building has experienced a facelift and more improvements are coming.
The Estate was built in French Country-style architecture and will be known going forward as the Chincoteague Chateau. The Chateau, featured in Metropolitan Magazine, is now available to the public for booking and accommodates a LOT of people with 4 bedrooms (2 king rooms — each with an additional rollaway twin bed 1 Queen room, and 1 Double room. There are also 2 twins in the Game room via a trundle daybed). There are extra linens to accommodate kids or teens on 2 massively HUGE couches in the Game Room and 3rd floor bedroom, and 3 normal-sized couches in the Formal living room, Den, and Sun room that looks out onto the water. A sofa bed is also available in the spacious Sun room. Guests have access to 4 bathrooms on the estate as well.
Most rooms have a view of the water with only 2 looking out over the forested front yard. The property runs from quiet North Main Street to the Magnificent Chincoteague Bay and is ideal for large groups, such as wedding parties, small corporate off-site meetings, church retreats, and of course, Chincoteague Pony Buy-Back groups. Family reunions or simply families on vacation that like extraordinary accommodations are also welcome to rent the property.
The Chincoteague Chateau is situated on 5.66 acres in a lovely and private setting that is surrounded by water. It's the ideal place for your next “get-together” on Virginia’s only island — Chincoteague Island, famous for the Assateague wild ponies, the Annual Chincoteague Pony Swim, Saltwater Cowboys’ North and South Herd Roundups, Parade from the swim to the Fairgrounds, Fireman’s Carnival and Pony Auction. I visited in 2022 to take my mother to see something on her bucket list and never wanted to leave. Come experience the magic!
