🦃🦃 Here is some suggestions to keep Thanksgiving a Happy Time 🦃🦃

Thanksgiving is a time for family, food, and gratitude — not chaos, smoke alarms, or plumbing problems! While it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the day, a few simple precautions can help you steer clear of the most common Thanksgiving home disasters.

Here’s what to watch out for so your celebration stays smooth and stress-free.

1. Kitchen Fires

It’s no surprise that Thanksgiving is the #1 day of the year for home cooking fires.
With multiple dishes going at once, it’s easy to forget a burner or leave something too close to the heat.

Tip:

Keep anything flammable — oven mitts, towels, food packaging — away from stovetops.
Never leave the kitchen unattended while cooking.
If you’re frying a turkey, do it outside and far from your home or deck.
2. Clogged Drains

Your kitchen sink and garbage disposal will be working overtime, but they can only handle so much.

Tip:

Avoid putting grease, bones, potato peels, or fibrous foods down the drain.
Run cold water for a few seconds after each use to keep things flowing.
If you notice slow drainage, address it before the big day.
3. Oven Overload

Trying to cook a turkey, pies, and side dishes all at once can lead to uneven cooking or a blown fuse.

Tip:

Test your oven a few days before Thanksgiving to make sure it heats evenly.
Use an oven thermometer for accuracy.
Stagger cooking times — prep some dishes in advance or use countertop appliances like a slow cooker or air fryer.
4. Heating System Hiccups

When the first big family gathering of the season meets chilly weather, heating systems often get their first real workout — and sometimes, they fail.

Tip:

Change your HVAC filter and test your heat before guests arrive.
Keep vents clear of furniture or decor.
If you have a home warranty, double-check your coverage before the cold hits!
5. Power Outages

Between cooking, decorations, and guests charging devices, your home’s electrical load can spike.

Tip:

Avoid overloading circuits with too many kitchen gadgets or extension cords.
Keep flashlights and spare batteries handy just in case.
Use surge protectors for sensitive electronics.
6. Slips, Trips, and Falls

With guests coming and going — sometimes in wet or muddy shoes — entryways and hallways can get slippery fast.

Tip:

Keep doormats inside and outside each entrance.
Clear walkways of clutter or cords.
Make sure outdoor paths are well-lit for evening arrivals.
Final Thoughts

Thanksgiving should be about gratitude, laughter, and great food — not emergency repairs. By planning ahead and keeping safety in mind, you’ll ensure your home (and your holiday) runs smoothly from appetizers to dessert.

Here’s to a warm, worry-free Thanksgiving filled with good company and good memories! ** (By Choice Home Warranty)

Since the 2008 financial crisis, North American living cost indicators have fluctuated significantly.

In July 2009, inflation was -2%, while during the Biden administration, it peaked above 9%.

The latest July 2025 report shows CPI up 0.2% monthly, with a 2.7% year-over-year (YoY) increase. Shelter costs rose 0.2% monthly and 3.7% YoY. Despite tariffs in place for four months, inflation remains surprisingly stable.

Meanwhile, California’s housing market saw its first YoY price decline in two years, driven by slower demand and increased inventory, softening prices. (posted in Nextdoor)

DESIGN SECRETS for STYLISH SMALL SPACES ~~ The Dating Doctor

Introduction : Living in a small space presents unique challenges. But with the right approach, these challenges can become opportunities for creativity and
innovation. In this post, we’ll provide you with practical, actionable tips to maximize your small living area. From smart furniture choices to clever lighting tricks,
we’ve got you covered. By the end, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to transform your home into a stylish, efficient space.
Understanding Your Space: Before you start redecorating, it’s crucial to understand your space. Measure each room meticulously and analyze how you use each area.
This will help you identify underutilized spaces and potential problem areas. Use tools like floor plan apps to create a visual layout. This initial step lays the
foundation for all your subsequent design decisions.
Key Points for Measurement: 1. Measure the length, width, and height of each room. 2. Note the location of doors, windows, and electrical outlets.
3.Identify any architectural features that could affect furniture placement.
Analysis Tips : 1. Observe the flow of movement through each room. 2. Determine which areas receive the most natural light.
3. Consider how you currently use each space and what activities you want to accommodate.
Utilizing Multi-Functional Furniture : Multi-functional furniture is a game-changer in small spaces. Pieces that serve more than one purpose can drastically reduce clutter
and free up valuable floor space. Look for items like sofa beds, storage ottomans, and expandable dining tables. These versatile pieces not only save space but
also add a touch of ingenuity to your home.
Popular Multi-Functional Pieces : 1. Sofa beds that transform into guest beds. 2. Coffee tables with hidden storage compartments. 3. Fold-down desks that double as wall art.
Benefits : 1. Maximizes floor space by reducing the number of furniture pieces needed. 2. Increases storage options without compromising style. 3.Offers flexible solutions for changing needs.
The Power of Vertical Space : When floor space is limited, look up! Vertical space is often underutilized but can provide ample storage and display opportunities.
Install shelves, hooks, and hangers to make the most of your walls. This strategy not only saves floor space but also draws the eye upward, creating the illusion of a larger room.
Vertical Space Ideas : 1. Floating shelves for books, plants, and decorative items. 2. Wall-mounted hooks for coats, bags, and accessories.
3.Hanging planters and vertical gardens for a touch of greenery.
Implementation Tips : 1.Use sturdy brackets and anchors to ensure safety. 2.Organize items by frequency of use, keeping everyday essentials within easy reach.
3.Balance functionality with aesthetics by choosing stylish shelving units and hooks.
Strategic Lighting : Lighting plays a crucial role in small spaces. Proper lighting can make a room feel larger, warmer, and more inviting. Use a combination of ambient, task,
and accent lighting to create a balanced, well-lit environment. Mirrors are another excellent tool for amplifying light and creating the illusion of space.
Types of Lighting : 1.Ambient lighting for overall illumination. 2.Task lighting for specific activities like reading or cooking.
3.Accent lighting to highlight artwork or architectural features.
Tips for Effective Lighting : 1.Place lamps and light fixtures strategically to avoid dark corners. 2.Use dimmers to adjust the mood and functionality of the space.
3.Incorporate reflective surfaces like mirrors and glossy finishes to enhance light distribution.
Playing with Colors and Patterns : The right colors and patterns can significantly impact the perception of space in a small room. Light, neutral colors tend to open up a space,
while darker shades can make it feel more confined. However, bold colors and patterns used strategically can add personality and depth.
Color Strategies : 1.Use light, neutral colors on walls and larger pieces of furniture. 2.Introduce pops of color with accessories like cushions, rugs, and artwork.
3.Consider an accent wall to draw attention and add interest.
Pattern Tips : 1.Opt for small-scale patterns to avoid overwhelming the space. 2.Use vertical stripes to elongate the room and horizontal stripes to widen it.
3.Mix and match patterns carefully to maintain a cohesive look.
Decluttering and Organizing : Clutter is the enemy of small spaces. A well-organized, clutter-free room not only looks better but also feels more spacious.
Invest in smart storage solutions and adopt a minimalistic approach to keep your home tidy and functional.
Decluttering Tips : 1.Regularly assess your belongings and donate or discard items you no longer need. 2.Use storage bins, baskets, and organizers to keep similar items together.
3.Implement a one-in, one-out rule to prevent accumulation.
Organization Strategies : 1.Utilize under-bed storage for seasonal items and extra linens. 2. Install shelving units in closets to maximize vertical space.
3.Label containers and storage areas for easy identification and access.
Sustainable and Tech-Savvy Solutions : Incorporating sustainable and tech-savvy solutions can make your small space more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Opt for eco-friendly materials and energy-saving devices to reduce your carbon footprint while enhancing your home’s functionality.
Sustainable Choices : 1.Choose furniture made from reclaimed or sustainably sourced materials. 2.Use energy-efficient LED bulbs and appliances.
3.Incorporate indoor plants to improve air quality and add a natural touch.
Tech-Savvy Solutions : 1.Smart home devices to control lighting, temperature, and security. 2.Space-saving tech gadgets like foldable keyboards and compact speakers.
3.Apps to help you stay organized and manage your space effectively.
Personalization : Personalizing your small space is essential to make it feel like home. Incorporate elements that reflect your personality and style.
This can include artwork, family photos, and unique decor items. Remember, a personalized space is a happy space.
Personalization Ideas : 1. Display personal mementos and souvenirs from travels. 2.Use custom-made furniture or DIY projects for a unique touch.
3.Rotate decor items seasonally to keep your space fresh and interesting.
Tips for Personalization : 1.Balance personal items with functional pieces. 2.Avoid overcrowding surfaces; opt for a curated display instead.
3.Ensure that each item has a designated place to maintain organization.
Conclusion : Maximizing a small space is all about creativity, organization, and smart design choices. By understanding your space, utilizing multi-functional furniture,
and incorporating sustainable solutions, you can create a stylish, efficient, and personalized living area. We hope these tips inspire you to transform your
small space into a haven of comfort and style.

Here’s the information about unauthorized solicitation regarding street number painting posted by the city August 21 2024

cityofchinohillsgov
"Some Chino Hills residents are receiving notices left on their trash carts indicating that street addresses are being painted on the curbs in their neighborhoods. This is not a City of Chino Hills or Waste Management (WM) contracted vendor.!

The company doing the work is unlicensed and not permitted to paint the street curbs that are part of the City-owned right-of-way. City Code Enforcement staff are aware of this unpermitted activity.

In some cases, the notices ask the resident to take action if they do NOT want the service. At other times, the notices ask residents to request the service by completing the form, making a payment, and leaving it somewhere visible like on the curb or their front door. Residents should ignore the notice and are under no obligation to pay for any service they have not requested."
