The most important part of this transformation wasn’t visible from the curb.

From our customer’s side, overgrowth and the tree’s position concealed a serious concern. It wasn’t until we looked beyond the immediate cleanup and inspected the side facing the neighboring property that we discovered a large cavity and visibly deteriorated wood near the tree’s base.

Above that damaged area, a massive stem extended more than 60 feet over our customer’s home. A failure could have caused devastating property damage and serious injury to the people living there.

We discovered this because we took a step back and considered the bigger picture: how the property’s condition affected the home and the family who lives in it.

At Plains Edge Land Management, improving curb appeal goes hand in hand with paying attention to potential hazards. We want our customers to have outdoor spaces that look inviting, function well, and support a safer place to call home.

Another big project wrapped up!

This one was a big transformation, so take a minute to look through the photos — sorry, there’s a lot of them! There was a lot that went into this one.

We removed several unwanted trees, cleaned up multiple eyesore areas, and addressed a tree that was overhanging the roof and in poor condition, creating a potential safety issue for the property.

From removing problem trees and overgrowth to cleaning everything up, we left this property clean, open, safer, and ready to enjoy.

Big projects like this can completely change the look and feel of a property while also taking care of potential problems before they become bigger ones.

Swipe through the photos and check out the transformation!

From storm damage to a clean, safe property — we’ve got it covered.

This project was a little bit of everything. We started with a tree stem that had come down onto the roof, carefully removed a tree that was growing too close to the fireplace and roof, and finished up by cleaning up old cut-up tree debris that had been left behind.

What started as a property with several problem areas is now cleaned up, safer, and looking a whole lot better.

At Plains Edge Land Management, we provide complete outdoor solutions from tree and storm cleanup to property maintenance.

🐺THE NEW MANAGER HAS SPOKEN…

Apparently, the Husky has decided management is now part of her job description.

All jokes aside, this is a great example of why a tree can look perfectly healthy and still become a serious property hazard.

This tree had a natural lean toward the house. Add the weight of the tree and canopy, then combine that with strong Oklahoma winds, and sometimes that’s all it takes.

Green leaves don’t always tell the whole story.

Natural lean, weight distribution, structural weaknesses, root conditions, and severe weather can all contribute to a tree coming down — even when it looks healthy from the ground.

As a land management company, we look at the whole property, not just one task. Trees, landscaping, lawn care, storm cleanup, and overall property conditions all play a part in keeping your property safe, maintained, and looking its best.

And apparently, our Husky has taken over the management department. Her first recommendation?

“More treats. Less meetings.” 🐺

If you have a property concern you’re putting off, reach out to Plains Edge Land Management. We’d be glad to take a look and help you figure out the best way to handle it.

The Property Edge | Episode 5: One of the Most Affordable Ways to Increase Your Home’s Curb Appeal

Follow along as we share practical advice to help you protect, maintain, and get the most out of your property.

You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to make your property stand out.

One of the best investments you can make in your home’s appearance is refreshing your landscaping. Small improvements can completely change the way your property looks while helping protect its long-term value.

Simple upgrades like:
-Fresh mulch
-Crisp landscape bed edging
-Cleaning and redefining flower beds
-Properly pruned shrubs
-Removing weeds and overgrowth
-Filling in bare landscape areas

…can instantly make a home look cleaner, more inviting, and well cared for.

A well-maintained landscape creates a strong first impression. Whether you’re welcoming guests, enjoying your home, or thinking about selling in the future, those details can make a noticeable difference.

💡 Pro Tip: You don’t have to renovate your entire yard all at once. Start with the areas people notice first—your front entry, sidewalks, driveway, and front landscape beds. These high-visibility spaces often provide the biggest visual impact for the investment.

💬 Question for homeowners: If you had one weekend to improve your home’s curb appeal, what project would you tackle first—fresh mulch, sharper landscape edges, new plants, shrub trimming, or something else?

📸 Thinking about updating your landscaping but not sure where to start? Send us a picture of your front yard or landscape beds. We’d be happy to share ideas and help you prioritize improvements that give you the biggest impact for your budget.

The Property Edge | Episode 4: Your Gutters Do More Than Carry Water

Your gutters are one of the hardest-working parts of your home—and one of the most overlooked.

Most people don’t think about their gutters until they’re overflowing. By then, water may already be causing damage.

When gutters become clogged with leaves, sticks, and debris, rainwater can’t flow where it’s supposed to. Instead, it spills over the sides, which can lead to:

-Water pooling around your foundation
-Rotting fascia boards and soffits
-Landscape erosion around your home
-Standing water that attracts mosquitoes and pests
-Water backing up under roof shingles

Cleaning your gutters isn’t just another chore—it’s preventative maintenance that helps protect your home from costly repairs.

💡 Pro Tip: You don’t have to wait until your gutters are overflowing. If you notice plants growing in them, water spilling over the edges during a rainstorm, or staining on the fascia, it’s time for a cleaning.

💬 Question for homeowners: When was the last time you checked your gutters? Have you ever discovered something unexpected while cleaning them?

📸 Have a question about your gutters or another part of your property? Send us a picture, share what you’re seeing, or tell us what’s been on your to-do list. We’re always happy to provide honest advice and help point you in the right direction.

The Property Edge | Episode 3:

Healthy shrubs don’t always look like perfect squares.

One of the biggest misconceptions in landscaping is that every shrub should be trimmed into the same shape.

The truth is, every plant grows differently. Proper pruning should work with the natural growth pattern of the plant—not fight against it.

Good pruning helps:
-Improve airflow through the plant
-Allow sunlight to reach inner growth
-Encourage healthier new growth
-Reduce moisture buildup and disease problems

A properly maintained shrub should look full, balanced, and healthy—not stressed or overly trimmed.

Professional pruning isn’t just removing branches. It’s knowing what to remove, where to cut, and why it benefits the plant.

💡 Pro Tip: If the outside of your shrub is green but the inside is bare and woody, it may be a sign that it has been sheared incorrectly for years. Selective pruning can help improve structure and encourage healthier growth.

💬 Question for homeowners: Do you prefer a clean, formal landscape style, or do you like a more natural look that follows the plant’s shape?

📸 Have a shrub or hedge you’re unsure about? Send us a picture and we’ll help you understand what it may need.

The Property Edge | Episode 2: Lawn Care

New homeowner tips every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 7 PM from Plains Edge Land Management. Follow along as we share practical advice to help you protect, maintain, and get the most out of your property.

Why Proper Lawn Care Is More Than Just Cutting Grass

Many homeowners think mowing is simply about keeping the yard looking neat. In reality, the way your lawn is maintained has a huge impact on its long-term health.

One of the most common mistakes is cutting grass too short, often called scalping. While it may seem like it keeps the lawn looking better for longer, it actually weakens the lawn and creates more problems.

When grass is cut too low:
-The root system becomes weaker.
-The soil dries out faster.
-Heat and drought stress increase.
-Weeds have an easier time taking over.

Healthy lawns are built through consistency and proper maintenance—not by cutting them as short as possible.

Professional lawn care focuses on:
-Maintaining the proper mowing height.
-Using sharp mower blades for cleaner cuts.
-Creating crisp, defined edges.
-Proper trimming around fences, trees, and obstacles.
-Following a consistent mowing schedule that supports healthy growth.

💡 Pro Tip: Never remove more than one-third of the grass blade during a single mowing. Removing too much at once puts unnecessary stress on the lawn and slows healthy growth.

💬 Question for homeowners: Have you ever noticed your lawn turning brown, thinning out, or struggling during the summer—even though you’re watering it? Tell us what you’ve noticed in the comments.

📸 Have a question about your lawn? Send us a picture or tell us what you’re seeing. We’re always happy to provide honest advice and help point you in the right direction.

We’ll see you Wednesday at 7 PM for Episode 3, where we’ll talk about proper shrub pruning and why not every shrub should be trimmed into a perfect box.
