That’s a common myth, and it keeps a lot of people on the sidelines unnecessarily.

You do not need perfect credit to buy a home. Many loan programs are designed for buyers with good, fair, or even rebuilding credit. What matters more is the overall picture, not just one number.

Here’s the reality:
• FHA loans can allow credit scores in the low 600s, sometimes even lower with strong compensating factors
• Conventional loans often work well for buyers with solid but not flawless credit
• Lenders look at income, job stability, debt, and savings along with your score
• Credit can often be improved faster than people expect with the right guidance

Waiting for “perfect” credit often means waiting longer than necessary and missing opportunities. A quick conversation with a lender can tell you where you stand and what steps, if any, would help you qualify.
