I've watched this happen enough times to describe it with precision.
Days 1-30: You're waiting for it to change. Surely there's a catch. It can't be like this in January.
Days 30-60: You stop checking the forecast because there's no point. You start wearing fewer layers. You go outside on a weeknight without planning it.
Days 60-90: You call someone back home during a San Diego January afternoon and they tell you it's -12 and you experience a very specific kind of gratitude.
After 90 days: The climate has entered your baseline. You're sleeping better. You're less tense. You've noticed your commute stress is partially just... traffic, not traffic plus weather anxiety.
