If you’re thinking about putting yourself out there on social media, let me tell you something…You’re going to p**s people off just by showing up. 🤪

I posted a YouTube video talking about Micron coming to Central New York. Literally just sharing information about what’s happening in our backyard.

Well, apparently Barbara wasn’t having it 🤣

Multiple comments, paragraphs of opinions, responding to other people in my comment section. You would’ve thought I personally approved the entire Micron project.

And it reminded me of something I’ve learned over the last couple of years of consistently putting myself out there.

You have to get comfortable being judged.

There are people who will criticize how you look, how you talk, what you believe, what you post, and things you never even said.

Some people will disagree with you just because they can. And the reality is, there are a LOT of people who spend more time criticizing what others are doing than actually doing anything themselves.

But here’s where things change…

When you stop worrying about being judged and start judging the judgment itself, you realize how ridiculous most of it is.

Think about it. You’re sitting there worried about what someone might think of your video, your business, your ideas, or your appearance.

Meanwhile, some complete stranger is spending their afternoon writing essays in a YouTube comment section because they didn’t like something you said.😝🤣

Why on earth would you let that person determine what you’re willing to put out into the world?

I’ve spent the last 18+ months consistently creating content, building my brand, and talking about something I’m genuinely passionate about…and you know what’s happened?

I’ve met incredible people, built relationships, generated business, opened doors I never would’ve imagined, and connected with people who appreciate the information I’m sharing.

None of that would’ve happened if I let the fear of judgment stop me.

So if you’re sitting on an idea, afraid to post your first video, start your business, or put yourself out there because you’re worried about what people might say…

Just remember, Barbara is out there somewhere and she’s probably already typing. 😂

Post the damn video. Build the brand. Keep showing up.

I think one of the biggest signs you’re doing something you’re genuinely passionate about is when you’ve been grinding your ass off for 15-18 months and all you want to do is triple down 😂

That’s exactly where I’m at right now.

I’ve spent the last year and a half consistently creating content, building my brand, trying new things, making mistakes, and figuring stuff out as I go.

And the funny part is, the more momentum I build, the more excited I get about what’s possible.

I don’t feel like I’ve reached a point where I need to slow down. I feel like I’m just getting started.

Time to triple down 📈

I’ll never forget filming my first video.

I had my brother hold the camera, had absolutely no script, and honestly had no idea what the hell I was going to say. I just told him to start recording 🤣🤷‍♂️

I didn’t start creating content because I wanted to become an influencer or get famous. I started because I saw how successful people were building their brands by simply sharing what they knew and talking about things they were passionate about.

I knew I wanted to do the same thing. I just had to figure out how to get comfortable doing it.

And I think that’s where so many people get stuck. They see everyone else doing something they want to do, but they overthink how to start, what people will say, how they’ll look, or whether anyone will even care.

At some point you just have to say f**k it and start.

Talk about things you love. Share what you’re learning. Be yourself. Put stuff out there and figure out what works along the way.

Not everyone is going to understand what you’re doing, and that’s okay. You’re not doing it for their approval anyway.

I post so much content now that most of it gets buried before I even have time to think about it 😂 And someday it’ll be pretty cool to look back and see where it all started.

That awkward first video is proof that you don’t need to have everything figured out.

You just need to start.

Almost every property I’ve purchased has been during the back half of the year, usually in the fall or winter. I’d like to think it’s not a coincidence!

Something I’ve noticed over the years is that once the holidays roll around and the CNY winter starts creeping in, a lot of people mentally check out of the housing market.

Between interest rates, the nonstop political noise, negative headlines, and the thought of moving in three feet of snow, I can’t say I blame them 😂 But that’s also why I love this time of year.

There are absolutely still buyers out there, but depending on the property, you might find yourself competing with fewer people than you would during the spring market. And sometimes that’s all it takes to create an opportunity.

I’m not saying everyone should rush out and buy a house just because it’s October. But if buying is already part of your plan, why automatically wait until spring because everyone else is?

While half of CNY is getting ready to hibernate for the next five months, I’ll be keeping my eyes open for opportunities.

And hopefully avoiding having to drive a U-Haul through three feet of snow. 😂
