Had an awesome conversation today with another agent I’ve gotten to know over the past few months.

Different brokerages. Similar point in our careers. Similar goals. Similar mindset.

And honestly, conversations like this remind me why collaboration is so important.

There’s something different about being around people who are driven, have big goals, and are actually putting in the work to accomplish them. You leave the conversation more motivated than you were before.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

I used to read stuff like that in books years ago.

Now I feel like I’m literally living it in real life.

It’s actually funny because I used to get made fun of for reading all those books, listening to podcasts, writing down goals, talking about mindset and all the other stuff I was doing.

Now a lot of those same things are becoming the foundation of everything I’m building today.

I didn’t just pull this stuff out of a hat.

I educated myself. I learned from people who were already where I wanted to be. Then I actually took action on what I learned.

And now I’m intentionally surrounding myself with more people who are driven, hungry, building something, and want more out of life.

Doesn’t matter what brokerage you’re at. Doesn’t even matter what career you’re in.

Find people who make you want to level up and keep them close.

It’s always interesting when people get frustrated about credit and income requirements for a rental.

Flip the situation around.

If you owned a $300,000+ house and were handing the keys to someone you’ve never met before, wouldn’t you want to know they have the income to afford the rent and a history of paying their bills on time?

That’s literally what credit is helping a landlord determine.

Good credit matters A LOT in real estate.

Renting. Buying. Financing. Interest rates. Your options get a whole lot better when your credit is strong.

If your credit isn’t where you want it to be, don’t get mad at the requirement.

Start working on your credit.

I’ll never forget interviewing for my first “big boy” corporate job and basically telling the hiring managers I eventually wanted to leave. 😂

At the time, I had started a small digital media marketing agency with Karen Chalco and was completely obsessed with entrepreneurship. I told them straight up that I wanted to learn, grow, and use the opportunity to eventually fuel my passion for building something of my own.

It was a sales position, and I think they respected the ambition, drive, and honesty behind the answer.

Crazy looking back at where the journey started and where it’s taken me since.
