Great article- and here are the takeaways so you don't have to read it ;)

1. Interest rates are on the RISE, expected to be up to 3.7% by the end of the year (which is still lower compared to pre-pandemic)

2. Inventory is expected to remain low, only .3% increase forecasted.

3. First-time home buyers are expected to face continued challenges in 2022, but that doesn't mean they are not showing up.

"Despite a challenging year, aspiring first-time homebuyers are surprisingly optimistic about 2022," said George Ratiu, Realtor.com'sager of economic research. "They're looking at the new year as a fresh opportunity to make their dreams of owning a home come true."

Home sales are on track to reach the highest level in 15 years, with an estimated 6 million homes sold in 2021.
