Dear Cincinnati,

I didn’t grow up here. I didn’t move here for a job. I moved here by choice and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

In 2023, my wife and I took a leap of faith. After years of travel and never staying anywhere longer than six weeks, we wanted somewhere to call home. Somewhere to build a community. We chose Cincinnati knowing no one. No friends, no family, just us and a brand new city.

Two years later, I’ve bought my first house here. I moved my parents here. I started my family here. (Got a dog.)
I found my people through my neighbors and my gym. People who started as strangers and became family.

And then there’s Opening Day. Nothing prepared me for what Opening Day means in this city. That day alone told me everything I needed to know about Cincinnati. This place shows up, loves it’s city, and just like me, loves baseball.

Cincinnati, thank you for being exactly what we hoped you’d be and more. For the community. For the friendships. For giving two people with no roots here a place to plant them.

This is home and I can’t wait for what the future has in store for!

From courses right across the river to ones worth the drive out into the hills, there is something on this list for every level of player. What did I miss? Moving to a new city as an adult is hard. And Cincinnati can be a tough one to crack since so many people grew up here and already have their friends.

Run clubs, pickleball at Sawyer Point, joining a gym with a real community, getting out in your neighborhood, and just putting yourself out there can do the trick.

Here are my suggestions. Some that worked for me, for my wife, and others that I know. Let me know if I forgot anything!
