Aldi celebrating 50 years in the U.S.

SEPTEMBER 2, 2026 – It may be hard to believe, but OnSite Retail Group client Aldi has been operating stores in the U.S. for 50 years. Aldi’s first U.S. store opened in Iowa in 1976. It was in the 1980s when Aldi first came to Ohio. The Albrecht family started Aldi in Europe in 1960, according to Aldi’s website.

Peyton Bigora, a reporter with Grocery Dive, posted a story earlier this week about the grocer. In her story Bigora wrote, “Today, Aldi U.S. is regarded as the country’s fastest-growing grocer — a title it has worked hard to earn since it debuted stateside. As early as the 1990s, Aldi was looking at large-scale growth, aiming to open hundreds of stores and enter new markets in the span of just a few years. This continued into the 2000s and 2010s. The discounter’s most recent decade in the U.S. has been defined by yearly store growth of around 100-200 stores, the appointment of a new CEO and regional acquisitions. But Aldi isn’t all business all the time. The company has also garnered a reputation in recent years for fun and youthfulness, whether through stylish swag or hopping onto social media trends.” Click here to read the full story: https://www.grocerydive.com/news/aldi-50-year-anniversary-US-growth-expansion-timeline/829118/

Early this year, Aldi reported plans to open over 180 new stores, and that over the next two years the company has a special focus on expansion into Colorado, the South and the Southwest. Andrew Feinblatt of Cincinnati, OH-based OnSite Retail Group has spent many years working with Aldi, and his efforts continue to expand the company’s presence across Greater Cincinnati, Dayton and western & northwestern Ohio.

Andrew Feinblatt of OnSite Retail Group represented Aldi in the transaction and leads the real estate efforts in representing the grocery chain across a broad area covering Greater Cincinnati & Northern KY, as well as Dayton, western and northwestern OH.

Aldi joining $60M Target-anchored development on Cincinnati's West Side

JULY 15, 2026 - In a story that broke earlier this week in Cincinnati Business Courier, Brian Planalp, Staff Reporter wrote, “A slew of new tenants have been signed to a forthcoming $60 million shopping center development on Cincinnati’s West Side. Sycamore Township-based Midland Atlantic began site work on Harrison Town Center in the spring. The development sits on 22 acres of former farmland along the north side of Harrison Avenue in the city of Harrison, across from the city’s Kroger store.”

The new project named Harrison Town Center is proposed to be anchored by freestanding Target. An additional 76,750 square feet of retail space will be built along I-74. Planalp explained that according to the city of Harrison, Aldi will be joining Target in the shopping center that is currently under construction. Aldi was represented in the new lease transaction by Andrew Feinblatt of Cincinnati, OH-based OnSite Retail Group. Columbus Business First: Kitchen Social is ready to grow

JUNE 3, 2026 - Dan Eaton, Senior Reporter for Columbus Business First, recently wrote a story about OnSite Retail Group client, Kitchen Social. Eaton wrote, “The Columbus-founded restaurant brand ventured outside Ohio for the first time this spring with a new location in Sarasota, Florida.” The company is currently preparing to open locations in Maryland, North Carolina and Indiana. Additional states are in their sights, and another Ohio location is possible. Dave Sheehy of Cincinnati, OH-based OnSite Retail Group represents Kitchen Social in the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton, OH markets.

Writing about the new Sarasota, FL location Eaton explained, “That’s restaurant No. 6 for the company, which was founded in 2019 by a group of Bravo Brio Restaurants veterans. It's also a first step toward doubling the chain’s footprint in the next two years.”

Much has been said and written about the difficulties restaurant operators are currently facing. Kitchen Social, however, is showing positive numbers on both sales and visits – without increasing prices.

Eaton described the company’s strategy writing, “It combats a high-cost environment with menu engineering. While U.S. restaurant prices have risen more than 30% in the past five years, Kitchen Social is up just 10% in that period. Instead of raising prices, it changes the menu.” Click here to read the full story: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2026/05/15/kitchen-social-expanding-with-new-restaurants.html?utm_source=st&utm_medium=en&utm_campaign=me&utm_content=CO&ana=e_CO_me&j=45757228&senddate=2026-05-18&utm_term=ep10&empos=p10
