We had the unique opportunity to appraise a home of historic significance for Cincinnati. These photos are of the Hudepohl family home in East Walnut Hills. The home was built in 1900 for the Beer Baron Hudepohl family. It has been lovingly and carefully updated to accommodate the needs of the modern family while retaining its old world charm with materials and finishes that would be appropriate for a home of this period. I should also mention there was a carriage house (now garage) in the rear with living quarters above for the caretaker/carriage driver. Remember this was built prior to the invention of the automobile.

As a credential holder (SRA designation) of a professional organization I am required to attend continuing education seminars to stay current on developments in the appraisal industry.

Yesterday I attended a seminar titled: Appraising Manufactured Homes including the next generation of manufactured homes. It was worthwhile and timely. The next gen of manufactured homes aren’t anything like the old “mobile homes” we typically see. These new homes are of much higher quality with high end cabinets, granite or corian solid surface countertops, ceramic tile, drywall instead of vinyl coated wall panels. In addition they are Energy Star rated with additional insulation and some even have geothermal heat/cooling.

Haven’t seen one yet but they are coming soon so I have be ready when they arrive.

Although Carl was called home to be with the Lord in 1989 his business thrives as his memory through in his son Paul S Dotterman and now his grandson Matt Dotterman.
