After dabbling in some personal real estate investments, EquityTeam’s GM/Broker/Owner Mark Thompson started his real estate career working as an Acquisition Associate for a national wholesale acquisition company. Mark’s main focus was to acquire below-market deals around Cincinnati for residential real estate investors looking to fix and flip properties.
Six months after starting as an Acquisition Associate, Mark became the Senior Associate of the brokerage. Six months after that, and just 1 year after staring, Mark took over the GM and Broker responsibilities of the Cincinnati office. The brokerage grew it’s operations (wholesaling/acquisitions, realty, hard money lending, and title services) into Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and Northern Kentucky.
From 2004-2008 the brokerage compiled some impressive stats:

25 team members spread across 4 markets
2008 - 2011: Adjusting to a Changing Market
As the country was dealing with the real estate bubble, credit default swaps, etc., the national company that Mark’s brokerage was affiliated with was struggling to manage the market changes, with multiple offices in Florida being a big factor. In addition, Mark was looking for a closer, more valuable relationship with his investor clients who needed expert help with all aspects of the real estate investing process (finding, funding, fixing, exit). So in 2008, Mark left the brokerage he built to start EquityTeam as a full-service provider of real estate investing services.
2011 - Today
At first, we did not want to be in the property management business; who in their right mind would!?. For years, we referred our clients to other PM’s around Cincinnati, and even helped one, now very large, PM company get started. In 2011, after years of being disappointed by the numerous property managers around Cincinnati that we referred business to, we decided that, “if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself!” We switched gears, putting our investing services on the back-burner, to focus on creating the owner-aligned, residential property management company we wanted and we knew the market needed. We’ve deliberately grown slowly, with experienced and ethical team-members, always putting quality before quantity. Today (2018), we’re the highest rated residential property management company in Cincinnati.
