Didn't Happen

This is a really poor excuse for a photograph coming from a nature photographer. But for the life of me I couldn't entice this beautiful creature to investigate our Duranta (like my post yesterday), no matter how close I put it to this feeder. Ruby's yes, this Black-Chinned, no. We get very few here in Rockport, mostly Ruby-throats. In my mind the photo is fabulous, just couldn't pull it off.....

Liftoff

No wind equals back to the pond. This time the only wonder in the water was this Great Blue Heron, one of our resident avian amigos. It hunted and hunted but to no avail, not a meal in the joint. Okay FINE, I'll try my luck elsewhere and off it ascended. For this bird watcher that works too.....

Black and White

Went into the "way back machine" for this one. But I'm sort of obsessed with these white wonders. Part of it is they're two minutes down the road from our house so I stop frequently to check' em' out. As a matter of fact I was 30 minutes late to the office yesterday morning cuz I just kept taking "one more" shot.

In truth, I was experimenting with quality degradation when using a 1.4x or a 2x teleconverter on a 70-200 Sony lens. Wasn't satisfied with the later but the 1.4x I really like. Am using Sony equipment now but I had the same exact results with Canon lenses before. Going to the coast of Oregon in a couple of weeks and trying to figure out what gear to carry. Good friend Luis Moreno and I are going out there to chase winter storms and crashing waves. With the weather the country is having this winter it looks like if the plane can get to Portland we could have some success.....
